Welcome to the list of 2018 ACA Events. The West Great Lakes Intergroup sponsors most of these events. A few of these events are not sponsored by the Intergroup. We think they may be of interest to ACA fellow travelers.

PART 2 – TOOLS

A weekend of reflection, renewal and fellowship

March 1, 2 & 3, 2019

Join us for a time of retreat to a place of recovery and explore ACA in the spirit of the traditions.
We will focus on how to achieve emotional sobriety in all of Life’s Relationships. We will discuss the following topics: boundaries, recognizing feelings, the authentic self and forgiveness. The goal is to learn from each other the tools to help create fulfilling relationships with our spouse, partner, family, friends, co-workers, etc.
Welcome to the 5th Northern IL ACA Retreat. The format includes 5 meetings: 1 Friday evening, 3 Saturday, 1 Sunday with a focus on tools and positive takeaways. All meeting topics will be taken from the Big Red Book, presented in the form of a lead given by a preselected attendee, followed by breakout groups for discussion.
There will also be time available for optional walk & talks, fellowship, journaling overlooking the lake, or reading in the quiet of your own private room or one of the beautiful meeting spaces.
Please join us for this special weekend at Benet Lake to grow in your personal recovery journey!

One Day Ready Set GO!! and Non Dominant Handwriting in Fitchburg – December 1st

The Fitchburg ACA groups are presenting a wonderful opportunity to work the “ACA 12 steps” and “Loving Parent / Inner Child Non Dominant Hand Writing” workshop on July 21st starting at 9:00. (See Attached flyer below for details)

Where: Fitchburg Serenity Club, 6048 McKee Road, Fitchburg WI 53719 When: Saturday, December 1st from 9:00am to 4:00pm

Ready Set GO!! program is an orientation/introduction for those who wish to take the ACA Twelve Steps and learn about becoming your own Loving Parent. The material that forms the script is taken from our Big Red Book and our ACA 12 Step workbook.

This program is useful for:

  • Newcomers
  • Old Timers needing a refresher course with the ACA 12 steps & “Loving Parent” Those interested in getting an idea of the ACA 12 Steps before doing the workbook. Opportunity for “Fellow Travelers” to go though the steps with others in atmosphere of mutual respect. * Celebrate the growing ACA community across Chicagoland, Wisconsin, Midwest Region and beyond….

Come celebrate “ACA Unity and Fellowship” with us in Fitchburg, Wisconsin.

It requires those in attendance to listen to the material with an open mind and an open heart and in good faith with a desire to learn about ACA recovery. The 6-Minute Coffeehouse: Express Your True Self

The ACAs in Fitchburg are offering an opportunity to strut your stuff, express your true self, let your child out to play, show off your talent, or lack thereof in a series of 6 minute acts on December 14 from 7 – 9:30 pm, in the Ballroom at the Fitchburg, Serenity Club, 6048 McKee Road, Fitchburg, WI.

Bring your 6-minute act, anything at all, comedy, singing, show-and-tell, improv, gymnastics, baton twirling, anything at all, you name it, let your child through,  and/or, you can come and cheer on the performers. 

Bring snacks to share and wear a crazy holiday sweater if you dare!

ACA Walk and Talk – Arlington Heights, IL – October 28

All Adult Children of Alcoholics and other dysfunctional families are
welcome to join us for this 7th and final Walk and Talk of 2018

ACA Walk and Talk – Arlington Heights, IL – October 28, 9am

We’ll meet at 9:00am and start walking at 9:15am. Look for breadcrumbs if you
arrive late. We normally walk for 1 or 11/2 mile, and we’ll supply water.

2018 ACA Walk & Talks (and Lunch)

The West Great Lakes ACA Intergroup has announced the dates for the 2018 Walk and Talk events. Each Month from April to October on the last Sunday of the month Adult Children of Alcoholics and other dysfunctional families are welcome to gather with us for a walk, to talk with one another in the great outdoors and then if you would like to join for lunch.

These, as well are Open events for those who might be curious, searching or new.

Bring your walking shoes. We provide the water. We gather at 9:00 and normally start walking by about 9:15 am.

Let’s get together to share our hearts and soles (get it?)

In the interest of making sure our gatherings are safe places for all the Adult Children in the room Doug has some suggestions about addressing the customary way many of us hug one another at the end of our meetings and sensitivity to participants’ need for safety.
